What is more quintessential cozy than a hot cup of cocoa next to the fireplace when it’s a full on blizzard outside?  I can’t really think of anything. But not everyone has a fireplace and not everyone likes hot chocolate. So here are 5 tips on how to make your home cozier this winter.

1.     Plush Throw Blankets

Nothing is better than cuddling under a warm, plush blanket while watching Netflix! Give your regular throw a break and buy a winter one. Look for something that is thick, is made of material like a sweater or faux fur for optimal glam and functionality.

2.     Candles

If you don’t have a fireplace, don’t worry! Find a spot that you want as a focal point and gather numerous candles of various sizes. Voila, a cozy area to distress next to.

3.     Add Lamps

Adding the warm glow of lamps lighting the room rather than an overhead light will create an instant cozy vibe.

4.     Throw Pillows

Pillows are one of the easiest ways to change the look of any room. Choose sweater pillows, faux fur or anything that has a soft/plush feel to it, like crushed velvet. Depending on your décor, choose colors in warmer hues like reds, oranges or yellows. If your home is more on the cooler color side, choose deep shades of purple, blues and greens.  Stay away from anything muted or faded. Holiday pillows are always a good option.

5.     Natural Textures

A rustic cottage evokes thoughts of warm fires and freshly made hot cocoa, so it isn’t a far stretch to take some cues from that style. Incorporate natural textures like wood, leather, stone and plants. Combine a leather chair, a wooden table, stone candleholders and houseplants for optimal coziness.

Baby, it’s cold outside, but you are set for a comfy, cozy season in. All you need now is a hot cup of cocoa or one of our favorite Adult Hot Chocolates!
